is like jumping off a plane with a parachute on. It’s scary when you first let go and let that first dip into the fresh, cold air hit your face–you’re behind the camera doing your outro. It’s wonderful when you realize you’re actually falling and the air and the clouds and nature are just allowing you to do so–you’re getting great interviews. It’s nerve-wrecking when you’re not sure when to pull the cord to land safely, and you question why on earth you’ve decided to jump off the place–you’re trying to get an interview with someone important and integral to your news package, but you don’t want to interrupt, or get shut down. Being a reporter is like jumping off a plane with a parachute on–it’s fleeting.
p.s. It’s official. I’m a part of NPCTV, and reported my first package on SUNY New Paltz’s: “Make A Difference Day” event on Saturday. So here’s to my first reporting gig on camera!
