future you:

knew the old you

understands the old you

appreciates the now you

loves the better you

aspires for an exceptional future of and about you

knows what to do for the later, higher version of you.

stays the same,

yet simultaneously

changes

insanely,

too.

p.s. On Saturday my cousin Keyla had a 20th birthday picnic at Pelham Bay Park, and everyone was mingling about, enjoying the weather, and talking about their future goals, their future selves. My mom mentioned to my other cousin, Amanda, that her future self would appreciate what she’s doing now. And my mama is so right! Here’s to the future you!
