Wake up at night to feed their children. Coparent. Find babysitters they can trust. Go to work. Do their best not to worry about their new born babies, and still do. Want more time to spend with their babies, because soon enough they won’t be babies. Cherish the time they do get. Fight for more time to get. Struggle to balance, and rest.

p.s. On Friday I saw Jessica Shortall’s Ted Talk: The U.S. needs paid family leave-for the sake of its future. Her visual rhetoric was powerful. The stories she shared, even more so. And her tone of voice was moving. The reality of working mothers postpartum starkly contrasts the images on the internet and it’s truly unbelievable. So, here’s to working mothers and a better future.
