Who has them? Who masks them? What for?

Can they be neutral? Can anyone detect them? Can anyone imitate them well?

Where?

When?

Why?

How?

p.s. I’m reading Neutral Accents by A. Aneesh, and so far he has discussed his time in Gurgaon, India where workers at the international call centers train to have neutral, global accents. To connect with people across seas, workers not only change their accent, but change their personhood. But can masking an accent really make connecting work?–That is my question as of now. So, here’s to the abstract idea behind accents and its connectivity!
