My sis arrived home Friday. She missed her bed. She missed home-cooked Puerto Rican food. She missed having running water and a bathroom. She missed having privacy. She missed having a few phone calls. She missed the cool air from the draft of windows. But there were no windows where she was staying. She missed having a stable roof. She missed having a room she could call hers, and a place she could call home.
p.s. Her experience in Senegal, Africa was beautiful. There were hard times, but amazing times, too. She lived with children who kept her spirits up, played the game Trouble with them for many days, and began building a school brick by brick. She learned a lot about herself there, but was happy to return home safe and sound. My family and I are so proud of her! Here’s to Kate! Welcome home (since Friday)!
