Look at the mirrors. All the time. All around you. Anytime you’re thinking about making a move. Measuring the car, the van. Mirrors. Mirrors. Mirrors.

Turn on your signal lights. All the time. Halfway down the block before you make your move. Turn on the correct one. Signal lights. Signal lights. Signal lights.

Hand over hand. Then back to starting position while turning. 1,2,3 turn, 3,2,1 turn back. All while pressing the gas lightly to ignite smooth, tighter-to-the-curb turns. Turn into the correct lane, you’re lane. Do not hit the white lines, stay within the faded, golden yellow. Hand over hand. Hand over hand. Hand over hand.

Gradually come to a halt. Only at Stop signs. Don’t jerk. Instructors don’t like that. Neither do Dads. Gradually. Come to a halt. Come to a halt. Come to a halt.

p.s. On Wednesday, my Dad and I had our 2nd driving lesson together. He yelled a lot more, but apparently I did better this time. Haha. Here’s to the next steps!
