We are the storytellers of New Paltz

Here’s a promo that encompasses who we are as a team of members at our on campus news station, NPCTV. As Station Manager this semester, no doubt the productions we brainstormed and captured took a lot of my time, but I couldn’t be more happy with the turnout of creations we made happen together.

p.s. I am back in my hometown, but NPCTV, just like news never stops. Hope you enjoy this! Special shoutout goes to my Executive-board, and particularly, our Programming Director, Casey Silvestri, for creating this master piece. Happy Holidays! #tgif #homeatlast #npctv #npsocial #proud #work #career

Fall Fest

The hall is decorated in shades of orange, yellow, brown, and red. Orange-colored pumpkins. Red and yellow paint. Beige and brown haystack. The music plays. The Polaroid camera clicks. The catered food diminishes. The Henna tattoo table crowds, as does the pumpkin painting table. The pumpkin painted as a face with long lashes wins first place in the competition. A pumpkin painted as a starry night sky wins 2nd place. A pumpkin painted in a scary black and white face wins third place. The hall is decorated in shades of orange, yellow, brown, and red.

p.s. Joseph’s cousin came to visit us at New Paltz to get a feel for the school, and we tried to work our magic to show her the best of the best here. We attended a Fall Fest party on Saturday night within our dorm lounge, and she loved the college vibe she received from the festivities. So, here’s to what the fall brings!

p.p.s. Wishing Noeli the best! She’s actually a Quest Bridge finalist. That being said, she’s still seeking out other options and hopefully SUNY New Paltz is one of them.

Production

If I had to explain to my future employer my process to edit a video on Adobe Premiere I would want to say: 1st, I breathe. 2nd, I open up the application. 3rd, I go on the desktop and into the specified folders to find the content. 4th, I cry a little. 5th, I drag the content into the application. 6th, I organize the various clips in bins or folders on app. 7th, I watch the clips and choose where to cut noise and words out. 8th, I listen to my trainer, but then immediately forget what she tells me to do when I go to do it. 9th, I put my head down on the table. 10th, I try again.

p.s. The Production Director from NPCTV is teaching me how to edit. It was hard work but I am pretty good at making the first rough cut. I was hesitant of putting this on my resume, but the Sports Director from NPCTV told me that any experience no matter how little or big related to your career is important to note. So I was talking with my friend Jo last week,  who is also the secretary of NPCTV about what I’d want to say to the person conducting the interview if they told me to be completely honest and it was a judgement-free zone. Super funny discussion. Anyhow, here’s to learning how to edit news packages!

Perfect Timing

I committed and attended to the school I am in now at the right time, with the right people, and for the right purpose. There are so many additions to the school that I didn’t even know would be available when I first decided to come here. The residence hall in which I’ve lived since last year, is a prime example of extraordinary additions. The Wooster Hall, a brand new science building with new food options, and a stunning design, is another one of the additions that give the campus life. Hasbrouck Dining Hall has just been renovated and the booth-style sitting, plus new ice cream machine, are awesome–especially for freshmen who get unlimited swipes there. Every semester, I see the campus continuing to grow and evolve, and by the time I graduate, it will be a whole new place. Nonetheless, a place I would have stayed in love with.

p.s. Happy Labor Day! Overall, this weekend has been super productive as well as fun. Today, I checked out the newly renovated dining hall, and I absolutely love the changes my campus is undergoing because growth and improvement is always a great thing. So, here’s to perfect timing, growth, and improvement!

We Want

Sustainability. More food options for vegans, vegetarians, and food-lovers. International students to get involved and stay involved. Mental Health Reform. More full-time tenured faculty who want to teach and want to learn and want to impact. Better scheduling and room options. Funding allocated fairly. Diversity in all shapes, forms, and sizes. Inclusion, always.

p.s. Today was the last council of organizations meeting at my school, and I heard the voices of senate candidates as well as chair candidates. They voiced their concerns and the audience listened to them. They voiced their opinions and their passions, and the audience appreciated them. It was amazing to hear about the prospect of change though student voices. So, may the best candidate win!
